1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how Registro — Contabilità Casa ("the App") processes users' personal data.
The App is a desktop application developed by Alessandro Antonelli and distributed through the Microsoft Store.
The App is designed according to principles of data minimization and data protection. Information entered by the user — including expenses, income, categories, amounts, notes, due dates and other household accounting information — is processed and stored locally on the user's device.
This information is not transmitted by the App to the developer's servers or to third-party cloud services.
2. Data processed by the App
2.1 Data entered by the user
Information stored in the App may include, for example:
- accounting transactions;
- income and expenses;
- categories and subcategories;
- amounts;
- descriptions and notes;
- information relating to accounts and payment instruments;
- budgets and financial planning;
- due dates;
- associated documents or references;
- App settings and preferences.
This information is stored locally on the user's device in a database protected using SQLCipher encryption.
The database encryption key is protected locally using Windows security mechanisms and, specifically, Windows DPAPI CurrentUser.
This data:
- is not sent to the developer;
- is not automatically synchronized with cloud services by the App;
- is not used for advertising;
- is not used for profiling;
- is not accessible to the developer unless the user voluntarily chooses to provide it, for example as part of a support request.
The App also allows users to create local backups of their data. The management and storage of these backups remain under the user's control.
2.2 Technical data and telemetry
The App does not automatically collect:
- usage data;
- analytics;
- advertising identifiers;
- browsing history;
- location data;
- behavioral telemetry.
As of the date of this Privacy Policy, no automatic crash-reporting or telemetry system sends data to the developer or to third-party servers.
If such functionality is introduced in the future, this Privacy Policy will be updated before activation to describe the type of data collected, its purpose, how it is processed and any third parties involved.
2.3 Microsoft Store
The App is distributed through the Microsoft Store, which also manages any purchases, licenses or paid functionality associated with the App.
The developer does not directly receive or process users' payment information, such as credit card numbers or other financial information used to complete a Microsoft Store transaction.
Such information is processed directly by Microsoft in accordance with Microsoft's privacy policy and the terms applicable to Microsoft Store services.
The developer may receive information and reports from Microsoft concerning App distribution, licenses and sales, according to the tools and information made available through Microsoft Partner Center.
3. Purpose of processing
Data entered into the App is used exclusively on the user's device to provide the functionality requested by the user, including:
- recording and reviewing household finances;
- managing income and expenses;
- managing accounts;
- managing due dates;
- budgeting;
- financial planning;
- reporting;
- backup and restore.
The developer does not use users' personal accounting information for the developer's own purposes because such information is not normally transmitted to the developer.
Information made available through Microsoft Store may be used for:
- administrative, tax and accounting purposes;
- management of licenses and purchased functionality;
- aggregated analysis of App distribution and commercial performance.
4. Data retention
Household accounting data is stored locally on the user's device.
Users retain control over the retention of this information and may delete it using the functionality available within the App or by removing the corresponding application data from their device.
Backups created by users are stored in locations selected by the users themselves.
The developer does not maintain remote copies of users' personal databases.
Administrative or commercial information made available through Microsoft Store is retained according to Microsoft's applicable terms and, where relevant, the developer's legal, tax and accounting obligations.
5. Data security
The App uses technical measures designed to protect users' locally stored information.
In particular:
- the local database is encrypted using SQLCipher;
- the database encryption key is protected locally using Windows DPAPI CurrentUser;
- a Recovery Key mechanism is provided to allow users to recover access to their data according to the functionality provided by the App;
- backups may contain the information required to support controlled restoration on another device using the Recovery Key.
Users are also encouraged to:
- keep their operating system up to date;
- protect access to their device using a password, PIN or other authentication mechanism;
- keep their Recovery Key in a secure location;
- create regular backups of their data.
6. Sharing data with third parties
The developer does not sell users' personal data and does not use household accounting information for advertising or profiling purposes.
Microsoft is involved in the distribution of the App, license management and, where applicable, payments made through Microsoft Store.
Microsoft's processing of such information is governed by Microsoft's own privacy policies and terms.
Personal information contained in the App's local database is not automatically shared with Microsoft by the developer.
7. User rights and control
Because household accounting data is stored locally on the user's device, users retain direct control over the information entered into the App.
Users can:
- access their data;
- modify it;
- delete it;
- create backups;
- restore their data using the functionality provided by the App.

8. Children's data
The App is not specifically directed at children and is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children.
Information entered into the App is stored locally on the device and is not automatically transmitted to the developer.
9. Changes to this Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated to reflect changes to the App, applicable law or data-processing practices.
Material changes will be reflected by updating the date shown at the beginning of this document and, where appropriate, may also be communicated through release notes or other information made available through the App or Microsoft Store.
